The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Anne, Bangalore, was founded in 1857 by the missionary Rt. Rev. Msgr. Stephen Louis Charbonnaux, the first Vicar Apostolic of the Mysore Mission, in response to the urgent need for Catholic education and integral formation of local children. Established under the patronage of St. Anne, the Congregation was inspired by a charism of faith-filled service, simplicity, and compassionate care, especially for the poor, the young, and the vulnerable. Rooted in this founding spirit, the Sisters have made education, catechesis, healthcare, and social outreach their principal apostolates, striving today to be a living presence of God’s love through committed service, human dignity promotion, and evangelizing mission in the Church and society.
